NECA is holding two open days at its education and training centre in Melbourne on August 18 and 21.

Owned and operated by the organisation, NECA Education and Careers has trained the electrical industry since 1991 and offers a range of short courses and apprenticeships.

The open days will give visitors the opportunity to: tour the purpose-built electrical facilities; meet qualified and experienced trainers; see hands-on activities in the workshop; learn about courses and apprenticeships; and hear from current apprentices.

The open day takes place on Sunday 18 August from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Wednesday 21 August from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Securing an electrical apprenticeship is highly competitive and, as a bonus to increase prospects, the NECA Pre-Selection Assessment is available on the Sunday Open Day for $5 (usually $55). This is the electrical industry-recognised aptitude test that over 1,000 electrical contractors use to recruit new apprentices.
