Victorian government expands Solar Homes and Solar for Businesses programs
The Victorian government has expanded its Solar Homes and Solar for Businesses as the state aims to cut emissions by half over the next decade. NECA Vic welcomes the expansion, passing on benefits to households, small businesses and electricians.
Eligible Victorian households will be able to access a 50% rebate of up to $1,000 on eligible solar hot water and heat pump hot water systems.

This means that existing and new solar PV customers can apply for the solar hot water and PV rebate.
These changes do not apply to customers with a solar battery rebate. The ‘one rebate’ rule remains in place for solar battery customers, including those undertaking simultaneous PV installation.
Full information on the rebate for residential properties can be found here.
The Solar for Business program is now offering interest-free loans to small business owners to reduce the initial outlay for solar installation.
Business owners with less than 50 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees can apply for an interest-free loan for an amount up to 50% of their out-of-pocket cost, in addition to the rebate amount.
Loans offered start from $1,000 up to a maximum amount of $5,000. Meaning if a total system cost is less than $7,000, there will be no upfront cost. More information on the Solar for Business program can be found here.
NECA encourages small business owners to take advantage of this great opportunity to reduce their energy costs.
