TAFE Queensland Gold Coast hosts annual Apprentice Celebration and Awards Evening
TAFE Queensland Gold Coast has recognised the next generation of exceptional trades men and women at the seventh annual Apprentice Celebration and Awards Evening held at The Star Gold Coast.
The TAFE Queensland Apprentice Awards evening, the largest apprenticeship celebration on the Gold Coast, revelled in the achievements of their outstanding apprentice students with industry leaders and employers.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Outstanding Apprentice of the Year 2018 winner. This year’s winner is 4th Year Electrotechnology student, Charlie Elizabeth Nightingale, who was nominated by her teacher for her quality workmanship and commitment to the electrical industry.

“I’m so honoured to have received this award. I did not expect it and it came as a huge surprise,” says Charlie.
“Initially, I kicked off my studies with a business degree and changed after two years as I realised it wasn’t for me. I wanted something more practical and physical that got me moving instead of being stuck at a desk all day.”
TAFE Queensland Gold Coast general manager Karen Dickinson said the event recognises the extraordinary educational efforts of apprentices.
“Charlie has impressed all of her teachers, and work colleagues, who have nothing but praise for her quality work and commitment. She is enthusiastic, organised and professional about all aspects of her course,” says Kate.
Charlie is employed at Tri State Electrical & Communications Pty Ltd, which has grown from humble beginnings to become a major supplier of electrical, data and communications services.
