NECA announces new executive director for Queensland
NECA has announced that Peter Lamont has been appointed as the new executive director for NECA Queensland.
Peter is the former executive director of Queensland Electrical Safety Office and has worked for the Commonwealth and State Government for many years, serving in a range of departments, including the Premiers’ Department when Kevin Rudd was the director general. He also worked on various COAG committees and working parties.
Peter oversaw the introduction of the 2011 Electrical Safety Bill, which kicked off the National Electrical Equipment Safety System that is still being rolled out across the country today.

He also chaired the national Electrical Regulatory Advisory Council (ERAC) for five years and chaired the Asia Pacific Economic Council (APEC) Electrical Industry subcommittee in 2010/11, the first time Australia had chaired this group. Additionally, Peter organised an APEC Electrical Risk Conference in Singapore in 2011, which was attended by over 80 delegates from APEC and the Alliance of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
NECA says members are in very good hands and Peter has the skills, ability and connections to push NECA Queensland to the next level.
