Middy’s announces Small Business Award winners
Wangaratta Electronics and Waremac Refrigeration and Electrical Contractors have been named the August and September winners of Middy’s Small Business Awards for 2018.
An additional $10,000 cash prize will be awarded to one of the four winners, to be announced at an awards function on 9 November.
The aim of the awards is to help in whatever way possible to run and grow a small business. This in turn helps stimulate small businesses to accelerate employment and generate more income.

With just three members in total in their team, Wangaratta Electronics never imagined their efforts would put them in contention, let alone award them a $5,000 cash prize.
“There are sometimes large amounts of effort, angst, stress and worry that go into this job. There is a constant level of uncertainty where I wonder “am I really doing this right?” and we don’t get that reassurance,” says Wangaratta Electronics owner Neil McKinnon.
“So just to have a good-news phone call [from Middy’s], to recognise you are doing well is really refreshing. So, a big thank you, Middy’s, for the recognition, and for making me reflect and realise just how far we have come,” he adds.
Wangaratta Electrics will be re-investing a large portion of the money into training for the team, with any additional money being put aside for advertising for the business.
Waremac Refrigeration and Electrical Contractors owner and founder Paul Wareham was equally touched by the award.
He says that he will be putting the $5,000 cash prize to good use, undertaking some charity work for the Mortlake sporting facility located on the recreation reserve.
The team will also be shouted to a congratulatory dinner, with the Middy’s ‘’boys” (branch manager and local rep), to celebrate the win.
