Mahindra pitches broader range of ‘Pik-up’ utes
Niche Indian brand Mahindra is pitching its broader range of Pik-Up utes right at the trades, with a ‘Tradie Pack’ headlining on a new S6 4×2 single cab chassis variant priced from $23,990 drive-away.
Mahindra Automotive Australia says the pack was developed in direct response to trade customers, adding a general purpose aluminium tray, Bluetooth phone connectivity and cruise control for an extra $2000 over the entry level S6, which continues from $21,990 d/a.
Bluetooth and cruise was previously only available on the top-spec S10, while the factory approved aluminium tray was included among the various fit-out options developed for the vehicle.

Three other new variants have also arrived to bolster the budget ute line-up: a higher-series S10 single cab 4×2 cab chassis, which also now comes with an aluminium tray, priced from $25,990 d/a; a 4×4 version of the S10 single cab chassis, from $28,990; and, among the dual cabs, an S10 4×4 cab chassis grade for $31,500 d/a.
These bring the entire range to nine variants, topping out just $500 further upstream, at $31,990 d/a, for the S10 4×4 dual cab with tub.
As with the remainder of the Pik-Up range, the new variants use the latest version of Mahindra’s 2.2-litre four-cylinder ‘mHawk CRDe’ turbo-diesel engine that delivers 103kW of power and 330Nm of torque (available from 1600-2800rpm).
There is still no automatic transmission available, meaning all variants rely on a six-speed manual gearbox. An Eaton rear differential lock is fitted across the range, while 4×4 versions use a BorgWarner-sourced part-time four-wheel drive system.
All Pik-Ups are fitted with dual front airbags, hill descent control, electronic stability control, rollover mitigation and ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution.
Standard equipment on S6 runs to projector headlights, fabric seats with vinyl inserts, air-conditioning, tubular side steps and 16-inch steel wheels with 245/75 R16 tyres.
The S10 has alloy wheels, an alloy sports bar (when tub fitted), wider ‘running board’ side steps, remote central locking, daytime running lights and side projection beams.
For more cabin comfort, the S10 has extra sound-deadening material, climate-control air-conditioning, full-fabric seat trim, front armrests, driver’s seat height adjustment, automatic headlights/wipers and a better infotainment unit with 6.0-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation and a reversing camera.
Maximum braked towing capacity is 2.5t, while payload ranges from 1470kg at the entry level single cab chassis 4×2 to 1070kg with the bigger cab, tub and 4WD hardware.
