Madison builds communications technology powerhouse with global giants
Madison
Technologies has expanded its Optical Networking products and services
portfolio and welcomes both Calix and Tellabs to its range. Combining two
world leading optical networking portfolios under the one roof together with 3M
will give Madison unparalleled capabilities in the market and offer Australian
businesses local access to the most advanced communications architecture
available.
“The
availability of both the Calix Access Network GPON and Tellabs Enterprise
Network GPON solutions will give businesses the ability to easily source
end-to-end fibre solutions, ensuring they have the right core infrastructure
essential for them to endure the increasing bandwidth demands that today’s
technology is placing on their networks,” said Larry O’Toole, Madison’s General
Manager of Telco.
“Calix
deployed the first commercial GPON network more than a decade ago and has
consistently led the way in fibre access innovation and we are looking forward
to expanding our presence in the Australian market,” said Craig Stephens,
Regional Sales Director Australia New Zealand, Calix.

Broadband Networks locally and around the world have proven the superiority of
fibre optic networks to provide high bandwidth telecommunications services over
long distances at very affordable costs. The demand for high-bandwidth
applications continues to increase which has seen traditional backbone and
Cat5/6 LAN copper cabling in enterprise networks being replaced by optical
fibre. This is particularly the case with campus-style facilities such as
hospitals, universities, retirement villages and corporate centres because
there are distinct distance limitations with each type of traditional copper cabling
network.
“Unlike
traditional copper-based LAN, Tellabs’ Optical LAN was designed to meet the
future network needs of high-performance buildings,” said Luis Gamez, Sales
Manager, APAC
“But,
Optical LAN is not just a more innovative solution, it is an overall smarter
choice, giving businesses the flexibility to scale and adapt to whatever its
network needs are in the years ahead,” said Mr Gamez.
“The
Access Network application is no longer just for Telcos. Private owners
and operators of campus style networks are looking to fibre to not only
overcome the distance and bandwidth limitations but also to augment multiple
services such as data, security, access control, building management services
and CCTV over a single fibre infrastructure,” said Mr O’Toole.
“The
latest generation of GPON technology offers improved network speed and security
with cabling infrastructure that costs less, uses less power and frees up riser
and comms room real estate. The power reductions and real estate savings
alone are significant and provide end users with considerably reduced OPEX,”
added Mr O’Toole.
The new agreements demonstrate Madison’s
commitment to the market that it is a key strategic partner focussed on keeping
its customers well connected with world leading communications technology
