Industry update: cabling and electrical supply chains are robust, business as usual

NECA is aware of challenges some members are having when sourcing electrical cable and has been engaging with manufacturers. It has found that there is enough cable in Australia to meet needs and there are no supply issues.

This comes after COVID-19 (coronavirus) forced a major Chinese manufacturer to shut its factory, resulting in a brief supply issue last month. The factory has since reopened, is operating at full capacity and is shipping a third more product to Australia.

NECA attributes part of the increased demand to some contractors stockpiling products, something NECA urges them not to do as it will inconvenience other electricians by having unnecessary stock on hand.

When it comes to coronavirus, NECA is directing its members to the relevant authorities if need be and to stay informed using the health.gov.au address.
