Gerard Lighting has launched the Sylvania RoadLED Midi.

The Sylvania RoadLED Midi is a smart LED road lighting luminaire that has been designed in Australia for both Australian and New Zealand major road lighting applications – complying with AS/NZS CISPR15, SA/SNZ TS 1158.6 and AS/NZS 60598.1.

The luminaire has been engineered to replace the traditional high wattage HID luminaires that are used to illuminate major vehicular roads throughout Australia and New Zealand – avoiding any inconveniences with handling hazardous mercury vapour lamps, sourcing hard-to-find lamps or managing change out schedules for traditional light sources.

An inbuilt NEMA 7 smart cell base ensures that the Sylvania RoadLED Midi can be networked as part of smart grid rollout with support for LOWPAN6, ZIGBEE, LORAWAN and NBIOT technologies. The fixture accommodates devices and sensors for smart city applications and allows customised platform integration, future-proofing the investment while offering all the functionality of a high performance luminaire. With optics and LED light source optimised to provide maximum spacings for compliance with AS1158-1.1 Category V, a choice of beam cut off Aeroscreen and Standard self-cleaning visors is available to achieve control over light distribution.

The Sylvania RoadLED Midi is the smaller counterpart to the Sylvania RoadLED, which is currently installed on iconic motorways around Australia including the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

With a 20-year design life, the Sylvania RoadLED Midi is not only compact but also extremely hardy with no compromise on features or construction from its larger sibling. The optical chamber is sealed to IP66 within a pressure die-cast aluminium body. An inbuilt surge protection device is standard while the control gear is integral 240V with long life ensured from the finned array at the rear of the unit, which allows for heat dissipation

The Sylvania RoadLED Midi also offers a distinctly Australian feature; specially-designed tamper-proof Cockatoo Clips to stop curious birds from damaging road lighting fixtures.

The Sylvania RoadLED Midi is available in wattages from 60W to 150W with Class I (standard) and Class II versions to cover both new and retrofit opportunities.
