Convergent Technologies announced as new Australian distributor for Lutron residential products
Convergent Technologies has been named as the new Australian distributor for Lutron residential products. Lutron produces a range of eco-friendly lighting controls and automated window treatments which can be used in combination with all major control systems for improved energy efficiency around the home.
Managing director Nick Libertone says: “The Lutron range of products provides a large scope for creative lighting and window treatment automation and with the release of new products makes it very exciting for the progressive integration company. Lutron’s unique solutions for whole home, single room and a wide variety of window treatments provides more variety for home owners.”
Of course, the lighting control market in Australia is already dominated by Clipsal and Philips Dynalite, but Nick believes there is more than enough room for Lutron.

“The Lutron brand in Australia isn’t damaged, but dealers have been frustrated due to a lack of support. We will be changing this. We need to find out what Australian installers want, that they’re not getting elsewhere, and make sure we can deliver that,” he says.
“The first step we’re taking is to develop a proper technical support system, as we’ve done with products in the past, then we’ll look at marketing.
“Our first priority is to hive our dealers a higher level of technical competency. We aim to empower residential installers by working with dealers, rather than simply going after sales. We want to educate dealers as much as possible.
“Lutron really goes out of its way to give its dealers exactly what they need, and this is a culture that we will work hard to reflect here.”
Lutron senior design engineer Steven Detmer says: “Lutron is excited to have Convergent Technologies representing us in the residential market in Australia. The experience of Convergent in the market here along with Lutron’s new product lines are a perfect combination for success.”
To start, Convergent will be releasing a selection of Lutron’s most popular offerings for the local market.
