ABB’s all-compatible ACS480 compact variable speed drive, available from Control Logic, combines simplicity and efficiency in a small package.

Specifically designed to drive conveyors, compressors, fans, pumps and applications in various light industries, the series shares the same control panel interface, options and software tools with the full family of ABB drives.

All essential functions have been built-in to optimise common variable-torque applications via numerous integrated and pre-programmed modes such as PID (proportional integral derivative), pump and fan macros and timers.

Application control is easy to set up through the provided assistant control panel. Pack full of features such as configurable user display pages, primary settings, commissioning assistant and help button to provide full understanding to the user. The optional Bluetooth connectivity control panel ensures easy configuration and monitoring through the ABB mobile app for people on the go. Available for both Apple and Android.

To protect both people and machinery, the drive comes with key safety functions such as a TÜV-certified safe-torque-off (STO) as standard. The drive can operate in temperatures up to 60°C and is housed in a compact IP20 footprint, the ACS480 drive is cabinet optimised and compatible with DIN RAIL installation. While the inbuilt EMC C2 filter ensures low interferences and compliance to the latest European and international standards allow the drive to be used in industrial and commercial (building) environments.

With inbuilt Modbus as standard and numerous optional communication interfaces for industrial field buses, the ACS480 drives provides easy direct access to critical energy efficiency information, thanks to its built-in energy optimiser. The user has full control to reduce the amount of energy used in their processes to save big on energy bills. Full support for ABB’s highest efficient synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motors provides even greater efficiency and savings than traditional motors and is suitable for all industries.
