Endeavour Energy, Intellihub launch smart hot water storage for surplus solar
Endeavour Energy has launched its Off Peak Plus solution, in partnership with Australian and New Zealand metering provider and data intelligence business Intellihub and ten electricity retailers.
The Off Peak Plus solution gives excess solar power to its neighbours as well as to heat electric hot water when demand for power falls across the grid. It’s currently being used with Jarod Catt’s 58 solar panel system which sits on the western side of his Illawarra home.
He is generating so much extra power that on a normal sunny day he is sending hundreds of watts of surplus renewable energy back into the electricity grid.

The Off Peak Plus program, with help from NSW minister for energy and the environment, is now working in 2,500 homes across Albion Park. The program costs customers nothing to participate in.
By using data gained from the smart meters of these homes, Endeavour Energy’s network control centre has been able to identify a safety hazard in a home and fixed it on the same day it was found.
There are now plans to expand the program to the new city of Bradfield in Western Sydney and other parts of the South Coast.
