The All-Energy Australia Exhibition & Conference 2016, presented in partnership with the Clean Energy Council, started in Melbourne yesterday, delivering the latest insights from the nation’s leading experts.

Opening the conference was Clean Energy Council chief executive Kane Thornton who said there will be many illuminating conversations over the two-day event about the many innovations and changes needed en route to a zero-emission energy system.

“This is a very exciting time for the renewable energy industry and for solar and storage in particular. Climate change or no climate change, renewable energy is now the lowest-cost form of new electricity generation in much of the world,” Kane said.

“It is disappointing that some commentators and public figures used a natural disaster last week to play cheap political games and try to blame renewable energy for something caused by freak weather.

“What’s clear is that Australia needs a coherent plan for a modern energy system, rather than yet another boring chapter of the energy policy blame game. Most people want more renewable energy and they don’t appreciate cheap shots every time it gets a bit hard.

“We need all sides of politics to collaborate and work together for the good of the people who voted for them.”
