INDUSTRY NEWS

A NOTE FROM THE

PUBLISHER...

In the Autumn 2015 edition

of

Electrical Connection

, we

published a press release from

the Australian Competition and

Consumer Commission (ACCC - a

Commonwealth Statutory Authority)

that stated a number of Australian

electrical cable suppliers and

wholesalers had court proceedings

issued against them in relation to

cartel behaviour.

We would be remiss not to

mention that these claims are simply

accusations that are yet to be proven

in court; claims that the mentioned

suppliers and wholesalers will

strenuously defend.

As we now understand it,

some people named in the ACCC

allegations have never actually been

interviewed by the ACCC, which is a

disgusting slur on their reputations

and the industry in general.

The case is scheduled for the courts

in November.

It will be interesting to see what

the ACCC really knows about

the complexities of running

manufacturing or supply businesses

in Australia in this day and age, from

the comfort of their Canberra offices.
