Wieland Electric’s SAMOS PRO MOTION expandable safety controller is a programmable safety controller with additional motion monitoring, and it is available through LAPP Australia.

Motion monitoring is achieved through six TUV-certified function blocks to control: safe standstill monitoring for commissioning or maintenance (standstill), safe direction for rolls, gates or machines (SDI), safe speed range (SSR), safe limited speed (SLS), safe minimum speed (SSM), and safety limited position for rotative or linear axes (SLP).

The safety motion monitoring applications can include packaging machines, lifts, automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) and many more.

Safe monitoring is achieved by using sensors depending on the safety category and application. The sensors can be safe HTL encoders or proximity sensors.
