Siemens has appointed Perth-based company Teck Global as a value-added reseller (VAR) for its medium-voltage portfolio in Australia.

The agreement follows several successful collaborations between the two companies, including the delivery of Western Australia’s recent grid-scale renewable energy projects, the Kwinana Battery Energy Storage System Stage 2 and Collie Battery Energy Storage Project.

The partnership will facilitate shorter lead times for project delivery, increased cost-effectiveness and wider access to engineering solutions in the medium-voltage sector. With an opportunity to increase local content, the relationship aims to help both organisations support Australia’s net-zero commitments. It will also cover Siemens’ 11/22/33kV gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgear, 17.5kV air-insulated medium-voltage switchgear and 11/22/33kV ring main units.

“It’s great to welcome Teck Global as our VAR in Australia as it follows our successful trajectory of working with them on significant projects, especially in the mining and minerals industry in WA,” Siemens general manager for electrification and automation systems in Australia and New Zealand, Asad Khan, says.

“As we support our customers through the energy transition to meet current and future needs, it’s critical we have a strong local partner that has deep in-house engineering and product expertise and supply chain connections that help get our products into the market quicker. We look forward to many more years of continued success with Teck Global.”

Teck Global will purchase the primary parts of medium-voltage switchgear and source and assemble the low-voltage equipment required for customer delivery. It will also have access to other partner benefits like engineering information and the opportunity to train site technicians on Siemens technology.
