Tangible savings and energy reduction at the core
The importance of energy efficient activities is evident globally and continues to be an important element in any new construction or refurbishment program. To keep up with this, the lighting industry is continuing to undergo significant transformations in terms of improvements in light distribution, control and wattage reductions.
Executive general manager at Lumex LED Lighting & Electric Paul Calabro says traditional lighting has now all but disappeared and the general acceptance of LED as a viable light source across many market sectors is evident through further strengthening of energy efficiency upgrade programs across state governments including South Australia (REES), Victoria (VEET) and New South Wales (ESS).
“These programs have supported legitimate LED lighting manufacturers in Australia to invest in a solid platform of certification and credible claims in terms of product performance.”

He warns that over recent years, there has been a rise in the number of companies entering the LED lighting market, causing confusion in terms of claims made and ability to provide factual evidence.
The state-government based programs are supporting the organisations with a long-term investment in the future of LED lighting. Recently, Lumex have continued the focus on innovation and shared value through an industry first seven year installed warranty program across certain commercial and industrial products.
“With the number of LED products continuing to cause confusion in terms of performance and pricing, the Installed Warranty shines an important light in terms of the performance and quality that Lumex has become renowned for.
“The Installed Warranty offers peace of mind to end clients through the re-assurance of in the unlikely event that a product failure occurs, Lumex will cover costs associated with product replacement and labour required to rectify the failure.”
Since 2009, Lumex has established an important strategy focused on energy efficiency, and at the core of this focus is LED lighting.
Mr Calabro says along with LED lighting there is also an increased focus in the control of LED through intelligent responsive systems, whereby the LED luminaire and sensors are integrated across fixture finish and driver control for optimal performance.
“Our focus across energy efficiency initiatives is also supported via our electrical accessories and lighting control programs such as LoadSmart intelligent dimmers, and SmartSense lighting solutions.”
Lumex provides product and services solutions across residential, commercial, industrial, retail / hospitality and agriculture market sectors.
“We are proud to have been part of some significant projects across the country and in New Zealand. Our efforts across the education sector including universities in all states as well as agriculture and manufacturing facilities has been well received and serves our clients with tangible savings due to the operational hours and energy usage.
