Madison Technologies has been awarded the communications fibre optic cable network contract for the pipeline infrastructure on the Narrows Crossing Pipeline Project (NCPP).

Madison Technologies has been commissioned by MC (QCLNG) JV to provide the backbone communications cable network and associated passive equipment for communications infrastructure, which will run the length of the Narrows Crossing which consists of a 42 inch gas pipeline and fibre optic cable crossing of the marine channel, mangrove creeks and intertidal mudflats between the export header pipeline and the main gas plants on Curtis Island.

The submarine communications cable will be laid on the sea bed between land-based stations to carry telecommunication and data signals across the Narrows to monitor the gas flow and the remote control of critical equipment and infrastructure such as emergency shutdown valves.

These pipelines will carry Coal Seam Gas from gas fields in central Queensland to the export facility on Curtis Island. Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2012. The first delivery of LNG from the plant is scheduled for 2014.
