SMA Australia opens state-of-the-art APAC training centre
The new facility will provide practical training to customers located across the APAC region, empowering their internal service teams with the skills and qualifications needed for the flexible operation and maintenance of their energy plants.
With SMA equipment deployed on over 60% of large-scale solar projects in Australia, the training centre will help ensure SMA is well placed to continue providing services for ongoing customer support.

This new training service platform will provide large-scale customers with the opportunity to undertake training on First Level Support (Maintenance and Component Replacement) of SMA Sunny Central and Sunny Central Storage 2200 to 4600 UP inverters. Customers undertaking the training will add value to their operation, by saving on annual maintenance costs and minimising response times to troubleshooting and First Level component replacements.
The investment in the training centre highlights SMA Australia’s commitment to the renewable energy industry in the region. The company expects to initially train around 150 large-scale industry professionals a year, with a training program for home, industrial, and commercial professionals in development for a later date.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of our new training centre,” SMA Australia vice president for large-scale and projects Joshua Birmingham says.
“It is a significant investment from SMA, representing a formidable commitment towards supporting our customers in the APAC region and as an industry in Australia, it gives great confidence as we continue to make great leaps in the energy transition. We look forward to providing our customers with this world-class training and support.”
