Schneider Electric has announced the release of a new range of XUY roller sensors as part of its Telemecanique Sensors brand.

Using a multi-beam photo-electric sensor across the width of the conveyor, this fully integrated roller sensor is a breakthrough in sensor technology for roller conveyor applications.

The XUY is easily installed between the roller conveyors and detects all objects passing over the rollers – no matter their shape, colour or position.

Featuring a new design that eliminates the time consuming, and more costly traditional mounting styles, the XUY can be installed and moved without the need for tools.

Encased in a 12mm aluminium tube, the XUY roller sensor can be ordered to suit roller conveyor widths from 200mm to 900mm and, depending on the conveyor width, will accommodate from one to six sensors across the tube.

Key features and benefits of the XUY roller sensor include:

• A unique design with a spring-loaded end and the options of three types of end mounting clips: 7/16 hexagonal, Ø 8mm and adhesive types
• The ability to be installed between the conveyor’s rollers which helps protect the sensor from direct mechanical impact
• Thirty degree angle adjustments, meaning the sensor is easy to set up and align on a target object
• Use of special convex lens to avoid dust accumulation on the sensor face
