SAI Global launches NCC Standards interactive house
Introducing the NCC Standards interactive house. Whether you’re a builder, plumber, architect, electrician or a student – this initiative is not to be missed.
SAI Global has created an interactive tool to quickly and easily discover building & plumbing Standards referenced within the National Construction Code (NCC), as they apply to residential dwellings. This industry-first innovation is already a talking point in the building and construction community.

Standards referenced in the NCC fall under the NCC’s Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions, and compliance with these Standards represents the most common method of satisfying the NCC performance requirements.
However, to date it has been very difficult for a building professional to know where a Standard may be used to satisfy a particular NCC requirement. This problem has been addressed by the NCC Standards interactive house because it can be accessed quickly and easily on a PC or mobile device.
The NCC Standards interactive house showcases the Standards referenced in the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) through interactive hotspots, which are specifically located on the areas of the house to which the Standards apply. Each Standard is colour coded to represent the Code to which it belongs, and enables users to quickly and easily access a preview of the selected Standard.
Visitors will gain a practical understanding of which Standards for residential dwellings apply to which Code (NCC, BCA, PCA) in an engaging online platform.
SAI Global executive general manager, information services (Asia Pacific)
Martijn Laguna states, “This is a breakthrough initiative for SAI Global from which the building and construction industry can truly benefit. The NCC Standards interactive house provides relevant information that can help users to keep abreast of their Standards-based compliance obligations, and allows them to determine how the Standards might impact the way that they conduct their business.”
