Electricians have been shown to be the most in-demand trade in Australia, according the Most In-Demand Trades report by BizCover.

The study analysed Google search data for over 165 trades with local electricians taking the top spot on Google searches at 624,540 times a year in Australia.

“The growing interest in renewable energy sources like wind and solar is likely fuelling demand for electricians with specialised skill sets such as installing solar batteries and panels. There’s also a growing need to upgrade and modernise older, heritage buildings and homes,” BizCover head of marketing Sharon Kenny says.

“For those considering entering a trade or starting their own business, this data provides a valuable indicator of potential demand, highlighting significant opportunities within the sector.”

Traralgon, Victoria ranked as the biggest hotspot with an impressive 3,957 monthly searches for electricians per 100,000 residents. Nowra, NSW is close behind with 3,653 searches and Orange, NSW behind that.

“Many people are integrating their homes with smart technology,” Sharon adds.

“Things like smart lighting, smart security systems and smart energy management systems may need to be installed and maintained by qualified professionals, which could also lead to an increase in demand.”
