REC solar panels generate power in Southeast US solar hotspot
The projects, developed, engineered and constructed by Strata Solar LLC, are Rock Farm, 6.65MW, Mt. Olive Farm, 6.65MW, and AM Best Farm, 6.4MW. Collectively these farms are powered by 81,000 high-performing REC 250 Peak Energy solar panels and generate 31,320MWh’s of solar energy annually, providing electricity to 2,400 homes. Each year the farms will offset approximately 13,380 tons of CO2, equivalent to reducing automobile travel by almost 28.9 million km. These ground-mounted installations each cover an approximate area of 16 hectares and were commissioned in the first half of 2013.
“We are commitment to using best-in-class components,” says Strata Solar chief executive Markus Wilhelm.

“We are impressed by the quality of REC solar panels, and also by the fact that REC keeps its delivery promises and stands behind its product. These standards are core to our building world class facilities on schedule and to the high standard that we both demand and deliver.”
The Intersolar North America 2013 tradeshow in San Francisco this week is a tremendous momentum right now for solar power in the USA, and REC is committed to being an active player. The US solar power market does indeed present compelling opportunities for investors. The market continued to experience rapid growth in 2012, with 3.5GW of new capacity installed during the year. Despite there being no national feed-in tariffs, a number of state and federal government-backed incentive schemes are in place, demonstrating the widespread commitment to solar as a power generation solution for the future. Projects such as Strata Solar’s installations will strengthen REC’s already solid reputation across the US and position it as a provider of choice moving forward.
