PULS ‘FIEPOS’ releases decentralised power supplies for IP54, IP65 and IP67 environments

PULS, distributed by Control Logic, have released decentralised FIEPOS (short for Field Power Supply) power supplies for flexible use directly in the field with IP54, IP65 or IP67 high-protection classes.

FIEPOS represents a new type of power supply that was developed precisely for a decentralised environment. They are easy to install and flexible enough to meet the diverse requirements of modular factory automation.

Decentralisation speeds up system planning, simplifies maintenance and enables an easy expansion of the system. In addition, control cabinets can be replaced by smaller versions or even completely removed. The ability to place the power supplies closer to the field improves efficiency and cost by removing the need for oversized supplies and long runs of large cross-section cables.

The field power supplies are available in either Basic Series or eFuse Series. Both series are available with power of 300W or 500W for one-phase or three-phase systems and as IP54, IP65 or IP67. Both can be DIN rail or surface mounted, with up to 200% power reserve for 5s and have wide temperature range up to 70° with derating. The Basic series models have a single DC output. They can be connected in parallel to increase total performance or create a redundant system.

The eFuse supplies have up to four individually current-limited DC outputs, removing the need for external protection. Faults can be monitored and controlled via IO-Link or Output OK signal, plus LED interface and push buttons. In the event an overload, the individual output switches off and needs to be reset manually via push button or remotely via IO-Link.

The use of IO-Link available in both basic and eFuse series allows for monitoring of output current, quality of the mains voltage, temperature, load variability and status. This information can be analysed in a central condition monitoring system, allowing the proper preventative maintenance and increasing the system reliability while cutting maintenance and operating costs.
