Prysmian wraps-up 2014 Telecom Roadshow
Top billing was Prysmian’s outstanding G.657.A2 singlemode fibre BendBright XS.
Prysmian explained the superior insensitivity to bending of BendBright XS, the result of ground breaking developments in glass and coating technology, has enabled the emergence of pioneering new cable technologies. By minimising both micro and macro bending, BendBright XS fibres can be bundled into cable structures with some of the smallest form factor cables and highest fibre densities yet seen. Prysmian Flextube cable is one such cable technology.

In turn Flextube has enabled a new generation of smaller and expandable optical joints that can be configured in multiple ways. Prysmian’s new Compact Multi-Function Joint (CMJ) and Large Multi-Function Joint (LMJ) are fully compatible with today’s generation of loose tube cables as well as new generation cables such as Flextube, a feature that was of keen interest to the many outside plant builders who attended.
Also on show were Prysmian’s clever indoor and outdoor retractable cable solutions, Verticasa and Retractanet. Prysmian’s line-up of international and local specialists demonstrated how retractable cables create new opportunities to utilise limited duct and riser spaces, as well as lower costs by reducing fibres and simplifying access to the fibres contained within the cable sheath. According to attendee feedback, Verticasa and Retractanet were the “stars of the show”.
Prysmian exhibited its local development achievements such as QuickDr@w, a complete FTTP solution that has been widely deployed in Australia and overseas, along with advances in ribbon, minitiarised loose tube, ADSS, high strength, rodent proof, twisted pair and hybrid optical/data cables.
ANZ Commercial Manager of Prysmian’s telecom business, Richard Beattie commented – “Working with the world’s leading network owners and builders, we’re are able to develop cable and connectivity solutions that not only lower total ownership costs but also allow customisation for the unique circumstances that our customers are in.”
Other highlights of the show were Prysmian’s leading bend insensitive multimode fibres,MaxCap-BB-OM3/OM4, hybrid cables for FTTA (Fibre to the Antenna) and FTTLA (Fibre to the Last Amplifier), Prysmian’s range of coaxial trunk and drop cables, and Prysmian’s connectivity and data centre solutions.
