Open for public comment: energy audits
“Auditing energy use is important as it enables companies to determine how efficiently energy is being consumed and identify cost saving opportunities,” says Standards Australia chief executive officer Dr Bronwyn Evans.
The suite of Standards are designed to assist organisations when deciding on what type of audit to implement as well as providing an outline in best practise for energy auditors.

“The Standards recognise the different approaches to energy auditing but strives to harmonize common aspects in order to bring more clarity and transparency to the whole process,” Dr Evans says.
Dr Evans said that regardless of size or type of organisation, energy audits are an important step to achieve economic and environment benefits.
The public comment process allows stakeholders to participate in the revision of this critical suite of standards regarding general requirements for energy audits for commercial buildings, industrial sites and transport.

AS/NZS 3598.2 Industrial and related activities
AS/NZS 3598.3 Transport related activities
“In a competitive market, energy audits identify measures to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy costs, empowering businesses to become more resilient and sustainable for the future,” Dr Evans says.
