NECA introduces first purpose-built battery storage training facility
It’s not rocket-science to see where the renewable energy market opportunities lay ahead and how contractors should be positioning their businesses.
In some ways, electrical contractors missed the early call on solar installations and have been playing catch up ever since, rather than leading.
With battery storage the ‘next big thing’, no contracting firm can afford to ignore this technology and business opportunity.

Market-ready contracting firms of any size need to have at least one person, or the principal trained in this technology.
With that in mind, NECA Education & Careers (Victoria) is this month offering its inaugural course on Battery Storage Systems for Grid Connect. And it’s booked-out already!
The five-day hands-on course at the North Carlton campus is supported by a fully operational hybrid solar installation at the new training facility. This means that at the end of the week’s training, attendees will be able to complete a test and commission practical assessment on a real life installation.
The course covers installations for residential, commercial and industrial applications and is presented by the highly respected Allen Burrows of Mighty Mouse Solar, who shares his years of practical solar experience.
Classes are limited to 12 students at a time and cover all aspects of design, install and testing of solar and battery storage.
The training is conducted on the following equipment Schneider, Redback and Solax inverters, as well as Simplifi and LG battery units.
On the successful completion of the course, students can apply for an endorsement to their existing Clean Energy Council Accreditation (i.e. Design and Installation of grid-connected PV systems Accreditation).
