The premier showcase of the electrical and communications industry the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) excellence and apprentice awards are about to begin with the first awards ceremonies to take place in Melbourne in early July.

The NECA Victoria Excellence Awards ceremony consists of a gala lunch at the Crown Palladium on 13 July attended by over 600 industry representatives. Attendees will find out which are this year’s best state-wide projects with electrical and communications contractors being presented with awards in nine categories including residential, commercial, industrial and energy efficiency and environment.

The winners of the Victoria apprentice awards will be announced two days before at a cocktail party on 11 July at Crown with three awards being given to recognise achievement in personal development, effort, academic attainment and workplace competency.

The dates for the other NECA Excellence Awards ceremonies are:

• Tasmania – 4 August
• South Australia – 10 August
• ACT – 24 August
• NSW – 7 September
• Queensland – 14 September
• Western Australia – 21 September

The winners of each of the state excellence and apprentice awards will go forward to the national awards which this year are being held in Queensland for the first time.

The National Excellence Awards dinner will be held on 29 November at the Sofitel Hotel in Brisbane with the National Apprentice Awards being held the day before.
