Local manufacturing and knowledge unlocking the gateway to success
As the electrical industry expands and changes, maintaining strong customer support is essential. San Williams finds out more about how APS Industrial maintains strong customer relations with its new products.
The electrical workforce is transforming. Smart grids, data analysis and renewable energy are just a few emerging roles, with the industry left to adapt accordingly. Changes in the industry have led to a demand for highly reliable, compliant solutions, while healthy working relationships with industry partners continue to be essential for business success.

Flexible, responsive and technically excellent, APS Industrial is a locally owned and managed company that does all this, connecting the world’s leading industrial manufacturers to the local industry.
APS Industrial director of products David Read says the company values going above and beyond for its customers, offering products developed to meet the changing demands of industrial and commercial markets: “When our customers ask for something, we work hard to ensure we can give it to them. Our product portfolio is the largest in the industry, and we continually look for opportunities to expand it.
“When it came to three-phase residual current circuit breakers (3P RCBOs), we seized the opportunity to design, develop and manufacture one ourselves to satisfy the demand. It’s another way we think our local and global value proposition supports the industry.”
APS Industrial recently released the APS Power three-phase and neutral RCBO that has been purpose-built for Australian industry and in the ‘APS DB’ family of distribution boards (DBs).
Compliant with AS/NZS 61009.1 and complete with 10kA interrupting capacity and Type A RCD tripping characteristic, the APS Power range of 3P RCBOs comes in nine models ranging from 6A to 63A (each with C curve overcurrent protection).
Fixed with a 30mA residual current sensitivity setting and toggle-free operation, the new range of compact 3P RCBOs is also supplied with 900mm long neutral reference lead (blue) and only 54mm in width for maximum space saving in a distribution board.
Moving through the range, APS Industrial has the DB family, consisting of competitively priced, exclusive distribution boards including APS DB Eco, an affordable, lightweight distribution board suitable for light industrial, commercial and residential settings, as well as APS DB Essential, a superior lightweight distribution board suitable for medium-duty industrial and upscale commercial settings.
On the higher end, there’s the APS DB Ultimate which is an industrial distribution board ideal for high-end industrial applications for demanding and heavy-duty settings. Exclusive to the DB Ultimates, comes a removable gear tray, letting electricians assemble the gear tray completely independent of the enclosure wire. There are also options for soft wiring of output circuits, an industry game-changer providing quick and trouble-free installation using pluggable connectors for the on-site contractor.
All of APS Industrial’s DBs are locally made at the manufacturing centre in Adelaide. Because of this, the company can work with customers to build products for their specific project needs.
APS Industrial believes that as the electrical industry expands and the needs change, the manufacturing industry needs to be right behind it; adaptable and ready.
“APS wanted to offer a solution that utilised our partners’ world-leading technologies, knowing that as demands change, suppliers, like Siemens, Weidmueller and Rittal, with their extensive R&D spent, can support that change,” David says.
David says that access to quality products and industry knowledge help the company achieve this.
However, he says that supporting local industry is one of the most important elements: “It’s about meeting the demands of our customers quickly and APS Industrial’s growing footprint is providing more local jobs and career opportunities.”
