LG Energy Solution unveils ‘RESU Home’ package for complete solar storage solution
LG Energy Solution, a global manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries, has announced its latest addition, the RESU Home package, to its home battery range.
The new ‘RESU Home’ battery and inverter package consists of a 5kW hybrid inverter plus a choice of RESU batteries in a range of capacities. It’s designed for either new solar and storage installations, or to add storage to an existing solar system. This is the first time LG Energy Solution’s home battery range expands its offering to include a battery and inverter package.

Available in Australia in November, LG Energy Solution’s new LGES-5048 hybrid inverter is a highly efficient AC-coupled or DC-coupled design that will deliver backup power and keep essential appliances running with an uninterrupted power supply during grid interruptions or power outages.
The new RESU Home battery and LGES-5048 inverter paring allow up to 7.5kW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity for new systems and up to 7.5kW expansion of existing solar PV systems, including those installed on three phase power. The range of battery capacities allows system designs to be tailored to each household’s unique requirements.
Maximising solar consumption, the hybrid inverter uses energy produced by the solar PV system to power household loads, charge the battery, and export excess energy to the utility grid. When household loads exceed PV production, the battery is discharged to support the loads and minimise utility grid import. To further optimise energy usage, customers have the option to add automated remote control, such as with Virtual Power Plant (VPP) participation.
“We are seeing a clear trend towards larger solar PV systems, and the addition of battery storage as solar feed-in tariffs are reduced or eliminated,” LG Energy Solution general manager – residential Philip Crotty says.
“Exporting excess solar power is increasingly disallowed in some regions with high solar penetration and excess solar power is simply of higher value to the consumer than it is to the utilities. These changes reduce the value proposition for solar PV-only and increase the value proposition of solar PV plus battery storage.”
With an increase in energy demand for the residential sector, LG Energy Solution’s new battery and inverter package allows users to optimise their energy savings as well as increasing energy independence. Through adopting the ‘RESU Home’ package in comparison to battery only, users can take advantage of a unified solution from a sole provider with the battery and inverter combination, offering flexibility and optimising energy usage.
“There is a trend towards larger capacity batteries and customers who want to leave open the possibility of expanding their batteries in the future. This is particularly notable for those who have already experienced the benefits of having batteries and want even more flexibility in their power system,” Philip adds.
Boasting a proven and reliable fan-less design, 97% system efficiency, low noise emission of 25dB and ten years warranty, the LGES-5048 inverter allows connection of up to two RESU battery units each, including RESU6.5, RESU10 and RESU12. Australian homeowners can optimise their solar energy with ultimate flexibility and minimal hassle.
