Legrand launches back-up gadgets for emergency exit lights
Testing emergency lighting is a mandatory requirement and must be undertaken every six months.
Legrand’s Emergency Lighting Test Switches are ideal if you are manually testing the emergency lighting installations throughout your premises. Neat and compact in size, this ‘off-the-shelf’ device is available in both surface mount and DIN mount applications.
Our latest switch has a ‘Power Up’ time delay function, which is perfectly suited to installations where discharge lamps are used. This new feature is designed to avoid black out periods, where emergency lights are turned off before discharge lamps reach full brightness after the mains power is restored.

As stated in AS2293 (emergency lighting standard), even though a test switch is installed for the six monthly tests, there is a requirement to ensure that there is adequate lighting in the event that if a lighting circuit trips for an unknown reason, will leave a black out; even though mains may still be connected.
This is where Legrand’s circuit Sensing Module becomes important to install, as it is used to sense lighting circuits. If one of the inputs detects loss of power, it will actuate the contactor on the test switch activating the emergency lighting.
Although Legrand’s Emergency Exit Lighting Test Switches and Sensing Modules are available separately depending on your needs, they will work seamlessly together, providing a cost-effective ‘solution package’ for the fast, simple and accurate testing of emergency luminaires.
