Laser tradies make a difference
One hundred plumbers and electricians from Laser Plumbing & Electrical recently delivered over $100,000 worth of work in eight hours as part of LaserCon 2018.
As well as replacing hot water services and air conditioners, the tradies fitted out new bathrooms and lighting in the building recently purchased by the St Chads Trust to help them deliver a growing service to the Rotorua community.

The Laser Group identified St Chads as the recipient of their annual Taskforce project after contacting the Geyser Community Foundation who assists many of the region’s charitable organisations.
Geyser Community Foundation executive officer Annette Burgess says the Foundation was delighted to receive Laser’s generous support.
“We believe communities are stronger when they work together. This is a wonderful example of a group of committed and generous people coming together to make a real difference in our local community,” says Annette.
Laser Group chief executive of Australia and New Zealand Steve Keil was excited by what the group achieved for St Chads as part of their commitment to community.
“The work we have completed for St Chads will not only benefit them in the short term, but also provide a sustainable difference for them long term with energy efficient options designed to decrease their running costs which will help them continue to deliver services to the community,” says Steve.
“We couldn’t do this without the generosity of our Members and our suppliers who have donated the product installed at St Chads and, with labor, is valued at over $100,000.
“This is our 6th taskforce project since 2010 and, with our fundraising efforts for the Mental Health Foundation in New Zealand and beyondblue in Australia, our work has reached the value of $1.2million dollars. For a community of small to medium businesses based throughout Australia and New Zealand, this is a tremendous effort.”
Centre Manager for St Chad’s Nicky Mayne says the clients were overwhelmed by the work completed by the Laser Plumbing and Electrical team.
“We know that providing great outcomes to people with disabilities in Rotorua is not something we can do alone; it requires a community of people willing to do what they can to make a difference. We are so thankful for the generosity of the Laser Group for being willing to use their time and skills, to support what we do,” says Nicky.
Nicky followed up by thanking everyone involved.
“All we need to change the world is to use what we have in our hands for the benefit of others. You used your skills, your experience, your time and your sense of humour and, you made a difference.”
