Laser Group International Conference held in NZ
The 2013 Laser Group International Conference was its biggest to date, with over 450 delegates attending the three day event which included a number of workshops, a complete trade expo hall and keynote presentations from guest speakers of varying backgrounds and experiences.
“The Conference is a great opportunity to get all our Members together trans-Tasman and update them on our latest initiatives,” said Steve Keil, Managing Director of Laser Group.

“This year’s goals focused on leadership in marketing and systems, including our cloud software suite, and in building championship teams.”
A standout presentation came from one of Australasia’s leading motivational speakers, John Shackleton, who showed Laser Members how to ‘step up to be a superhero’ and develop their businesses and their teams. Laser Members had access to a plethora of suppliers from both Australia and New Zealand in the expo hall, which operated for the duration of the Conference and featured many wholesale, manufacturing and business service leaders, including the likes of L&H Group, MMEM and Tradelink/Mico just to name a few.
Mr Keil also spoke of his pride in the Group’s charitable nature, after having completed a taskforce day in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity as part of this year’s Conference.
“We had over 90 people spend the day at Habitat for Humanity building much needed sleep outs to assist families in need of more space, as well as upgrading their offices and facilities on site. We were able to help Habitat for Humanity raise over $7,000 in cash donations throughout the course of the Conference, and our suppliers also contributed over $30,000 worth of product for the project. It is great to see that our network is so willing to chip in for a good cause.”
But it wasn’t all work, as Laser Group put on some fantastic social functions for delegates, including a special performance from New Zealand rock icons The Feelers, a corporate function for the Bledisloe Cup, as well as the all important Laser Group International Awards.
A total of 35 awards were presented to Laser Plumbing & Electrical Members trans-Tasman with the top honours going to Laser Electrical Remuera who took out the prestigious Peter Bassett International Business of the Year Award, named in honour of Laser Group’s late co-founder.
The two trade-based Australian Business of the Year Awards were awarded to Laser Electrical Greensborough and Laser Plumbing Lismore, who were both recognised for their hard work and dedication since joining the Group in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
The wheels are already in motion for an even bigger Laser Group Annual International Conference in 2014, which will be held on the Gold Coast.
