JAC T9 cab-chassis variants to be added to range, prices to come down
Newcomer JAC has yet to notch up a full year in market, but the Chinese commercial vehicle specialist has already confirmed the first expansion of its model line-up will be focused on fleets.

When it launched in late 2024, JAC’s Australian product portfolio was a thin one – just a single model, the T9 utility, offered in dual-cab ute flavour with a single engine, transmission and driveline option. With two trims grades both priced north of $40,000, the JAC T9 has, so far, been targeted at the middle of the owner-operator demographic, where price and value-for-money still rank highly, but buyers still demand an elevated equipment level. Vinyl flooring doesn’t quite cut it in that price bracket.
JAC’s next move will be to add new T9 variants to the family, slotting in below the existing Oasis and Haven grades and targeted at trades. Cab-chassis bodystyles will be part of the range expansion as well, but only in dual-cab form – no single-cabs or space cabs. The T9 cab-chassis is also expected to retain the 120kW/410Nm 2.0L turbodiesel inline four and eight-speed automatic that currently propels the T9 Oasis and Haven.
“We’ve got a cab-chassis variant [of the T9] coming out as well,” JAC Motors’ Australian importer LTS Auto managing director Ahmed Mahmoud says.
“As you know, the [pickup] market is about 200,000 units every year. Half of that is fleet, so it’s a big opportunity for cab-chassis and entry-level, fleet-spec vehicles as well, so we’re gearing up for that.”
As for pricing, given JAC isn’t planning on offering single-cab or 4×2 variants, an opening price in the $20-30,000 region seems unlikely. Instead expect JAC’s upcoming fleet-facing ute to land somewhere between $30-40,000 when it launches locally toward the end of 2025.
