HPM has introduced its new 10A Fast-Connect Surface Socket, which is fully compatible with the updated standard AS/NZS3112:2017. One of the amendments was related to socket outlets with fast connection systems (as opposed to hard wired).

The socket undergoes thorough thermal cycling testing, which involves 384 cycles over a 1-hour duration.

The ambient temperature is set at 40°C and a full load of current is applied for the first half hour of each cycle. When testing is completed, the maximum voltage drop across a connection point must be less than 22.5mV.

There is no need to terminate the wires in terminals during installation. It is generally installed in the ceiling cavity and used to plug in luminaries.
