Horizon Power reaches another milestone in upgrades to electricity network
The program began in April 2010 with a focus on ensuring the electrical network continued to meet all current safety standards and reducing the number of unplanned power interruptions. The result is a safer and more reliable power supplies to over 14,000 residents in the Esperance district
In two years, the Horizon Power team has replaced 508 wooden power poles with steel poles, installed an additional 868 power poles to reduce the distance between power poles and raised the height of 398 powerlines to meet ground clearance requirements.

Esperance Regional Manager Layton Baker said the program of works was a huge success.
“The single phase upgrade program comes off the back of Transfield Services delivering the three-phase Esperance Network Rural Upgrade Program between 2006 and 2010.
“Through six years of relentless delivery we have achieved our objective and increased rural reliability by over seventy per cent.
“It was a well planned and executed program of works, and I would like to thank Transfield Services for their professionalism, attention to safety and their diligence in executing the work ahead of schedule.”
Stan Green, Transfield Services Contract Manager said he was proud to be a part of such a successful program of works and thanked Horizon Power for their support.
“This was a well planned program of works, which made our execution that much easier. We only hope we can continue to build on this mature relationship we have formed with Horizon Power.
Horizon Power and Transfield Services are now focused on replacing or reinforcing wooden poles throughout the district to continue to improve on the results achieved so far.
