AFL, electrical solution and service provider, has released the FOCIS Lightning, a self-contained inspection probe that captures the entire MPO end-face image in less than two seconds from power on.

Intended specifically for the inspection of multi-fibre connectors and bulkheads including MPO and MTP, the FOCIS Lightning performs industry-standard and user-defined end-face analysis at a rate of one second per fibre.

At only 280g, it’s a small and lightweight tool that’s ideal for truly single hand-held inspection probe, preventing damage to delicate MPO end faces.

All MPO fibre configurations are supported including Base-8, Base-10 and Base-12 with key up/down polarity capture. A simple set of adapter tips lets the FOCIS Lightning support MPO-12 and MPO16 connector types and has the convenience to be used for single-fibre inspection with optional coupler and tips.

Through the AFL FOCIS app, available on iOS or Android, users can store images, analysis, overlays and zones tables locally as well as share with USB, WiFi and Bluetooth connections. With AFL’s cloud-based aeRos workflow automation platform, everything is easier to store and share.

The device’s ease of use makes it economically viable in even the largest scale data centres.
