C2_front-backFLIR Systems has announced the availability of FLIR C2 in the Asia Pacific region.  The FLIR C2 is a full-featured, pocket-sized thermal camera designed to help building professionals see hidden heat patterns that can reveal sources of energy loss, signs of structural defects, and plumbing issues.

With its compact design the C2 fits comfortably into any pocket, making it one of the most convenient thermal cameras on the market. Professionals including builders, roofers, home and insurance inspectors, electricians, and realtors can keep the C2 handy while still carrying other tools and equipment. The C2 has a simple-to-use touch screen with auto orientation, and it is built tough in a rugged casing.

The C2 is powered by FLIR’s patented Lepton micro thermal detector, which captures and displays subtle thermal patterns and small temperature differences using 4,800-pixels of resolution. The C2’s wide angle fixed-focus lens is ideal for viewing and analyzing large areas typically found in building inspections. Plus, the C2 includes a built-in work light and flash that helps illuminate poorly-lit areas common in building inspection environments.

Featuring FLIR’s patented MSX real-time image enhancement, the C2 creates thermal images with enhanced clarity and readability. MSX automatically embosses edge detail captured by an onboard visible camera onto the thermal image. Numbers, letters, textures, and other features become recognizable without compromising the thermal image. The extra illumination of the work light also helps ensure that a brighter visible photo is captured along with the C2’s thermal image.

With quick point-and-shoot operation, the C2 stores radiometric thermal and visible JPEG images with the push of a button. The images can later be downloaded with FLIR Tools, free software that allows users to adjust thermal image levels, isolate and add temperature measurements, change color palettes, and create compelling reports.

“The C2 is one of our most exciting new products, and we’re thrilled customers in the APAC region can now experience the power of this pocket-sized thermal imager,” said president and general manager of FLIR’s Instruments business segment, Rickard Lindvall, Vice. “Whether you’re a plumber, HVAC tech, inspector, roofer, or contractor, the C2 can give you a distinct advantage over your competition.”
