Electrical contractor charged over apprentice death
Energy Safe has charged lift companies Nordic Elevators and Nordic Elevators Services and their directors under the Electricity Safety Act 1998 for offences relating to the death of a fourth-year apprentice electrician working unsupervised on a car lift.
It is alleged the 21-year-old apprentice died in March 2021, after meeting an energised piece of electrical equipment in a West Melbourne apartment block.

The alleged offences include charges relating to failing to effectively supervise the apprentice electrician and working on energised electrical equipment.
The matters are listed for mention at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 16 November 2023.
