Eaton launches third generation data centre power distribution units
Designed for easy and fast installation and increased reliability, the ePDU G3 can be deployed in the most demanding of locations, thanks to an ambient temperature operation rating of up to 60°C.
At the same time, users also benefit from a reduction in the number of IP ports required to network administer intelligent models thanks to a daisy-chain capability of up to four ePDUs which also help reduce the cost of network infrastructure by 75%.

Key features include:
- Simplified colour coding and laser engraved chassis easily linking breakers to outlet groups
- True IEC Class 1 billing grade accuracy: Users can monitor their energy consumption (kWhr) plus V, W and A extremely accurately.
- Accidental disconnection of load cables is provisioned via integrated IEC outlet locking on every outlet.
- Zero downtime & very low MTTR: hot-swappable eNMC module, user replaceable without power interruption to the load equipment.
- Central monitoring and management interface.
- Low-profile form factor, ePDU does not unnecessarily protrude into the active IT equipment space of the rack causing airflow & cable management obstructions.
- Multiple mounting options available through a unique variable mounting system which can be mounted at any point on the ePDU, increasing flexibility.
Rob Steel, Product Manager – Power Quality ANZ, Eaton Industries, said, “This third-generation power distribution technology provides IT and data centre managers with even more reliability, control and flexibility when looking to deploy power distribution and management for their comms room and data centre environments. Users today continue to demand solutions which are simple to install and reduce operating costs but at the same time they want greater reliability. This third-generation Eaton technology fulfils these requirements.”
