2013 Custom Mould Plastics has announced that it has officially acquired 100% shares of Tridonic Manufacturing in Melbourne.

Tridonic, which is headquartered in Austria, is a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient electronic ballasts, LED modules and converters, as well as lighting management systems, with offices and plants around the globe.

Under the terms of the agreement, Tridonic Manufacturing will be acquired by former supplier and plastic components manufacturer Custom Mould Plastics (CMP). CMP will manufacture high-end magnetic ballasts under the brand name CMP Controls and will continue to run the manufacturing facility in 130 Melrose Drive, Tullamarine.

CMP Controls managing director Vic Andonovski says, ”At CMP we are committed to continue the production of magnetic ballasts at highest quality and customers satisfaction – to ensure that these lighting components remain made in Australia.

“Manufacturing in Australia is something we are deeply committed to. The Tridonic facility is equipped with the most cutting edge technology and amazing people filled with the training and experience that can surpass any first-class manufacturing facility around the world.”

Tridonic chief executive Alfred Felder says, “We are delighted that we have succeeded in selling our magnetic ballasts plant in Australia to Custom Mould Plastics not least because this creates good prospects for our long-standing staff in Melbourne. And in Custom Mould Plastics the Australian lighting market will have an ongoing source of supply for its magnetic control gear requirements.”

Tridonic will now focus on electronic ballasts and LED technology. It will continue to serve the Australian lighting market through its sales force in Sydney and Melbourne.

CMP will remain a continued supply partner to Tridonic’s local and global divisions.
