Clipsal by Schneider Electric QLD sales manager John Noble presented the cheque to Royal Children’s Hospital, Centre for Children’s Burns and Trauma Research (CCBTR) director Professor Roy Kimble.
“It’s great and very rewarding to see where the money raised is being utilised. It makes you want to sell all you own and help these kids as they do it really tough,” John says.
Julian Burton Burns Trust founder Julian Burton OAM says the grants would help deliver more effective and less traumatic treatment for children with the worst burn injuries, and support parents whose child has suffered a recent burn injury.
“Burn injuries are very stressful for the patient and their families, especially in the early stages of recovery. An anaesthetic machine will allow doctors and nurses in the burns unit to change children’s dressings without having to move them to an operating theatre, relieving some of the pressure for both the child and their family.
“Education is a key component of reducing the incidence and impact of burn injury. The Kidsafe training course will give parents whose child has suffered a recent burn injury, and who wouldn’t normally have access to such training, additional support and education in home safety and basic first aid training.”
The next round of the Clipsal Community Grants Program will open in the second half of 2012. Organisations that support the prevention, education or care in regards to burns are eligible to apply.
