Clipsal iCat now on Android
After the success of the Clipsal iCat app, an iPhone and iPad version of Clipsal’s Australian Trade Product Guide, Clipsal has now released an Android version of the popular app. The iCat is the perfect application for the tradesman on the move with all of the information from Clipsal’s Australian Trade Product Guide in the palm of your hand. Customers have been won over by the app and have even referred to it as “a must have for all electrical contactors”. The response to the iCat has been a great success, and it already has a 5-star user rating on Android.
The iCat has been produced to be as close to the well-known Trade Product Guide as possible. Clipsal wanted to take the experience of flicking through the catalogue and make it electronic and they achieved this with the Apple version. The iCat can be browsed like the print catalogue, using familiar coloured categories including lighting and with the additional capacity to search for products and create shopping lists onsite. The app includes all 18,000 of the Trade Product Catalogue’s products and also incorporates extra product information such as colour options and price.

“We set out to replicate our iPhone iCat app and to also add some spice and new improvements,” says Clipsal customer software manager Francois Venter.
The Android version has been made to replicate the Apple version while also including some clever new features. One exciting new feature is the barcode scanner. This feature allows users to read barcodes on packaging, identify the product, check its trade price and add it to a job.
“This is a great time saving device compared to manually searching through catalogues and writing down the order,” says Francois.
The other unique new feature of the iCat is the ability to hide the pricing of a product. Should a contractor or systems integrator wish to show or discuss a particular product and not want to show the price, the app now offers the ability to hide it.
The highly rated Clipsal iCat is now available free to download for Apple and Android phones via iTunes or the Play Store.
