Australia’s largest privately-owned electrical engineering company, Ampcontrol, has announced a strategic acquisition of Primatec QDA (Primatec) which will boost the company’s innovative technology solutions.

Ampcontrol provides electronic products and complete electrical solutions to the mining, tunnelling, infrastructure, utilities and energy sectors. Primatec specialise in automation, process control and software solutions to the mining, industrial and utility markets and their services provide strong synergies with Ampcontrol’s product offering.

Primatec approached Ampcontrol with the acquisition opportunity and Ampcontrol CEO and Managing Director, Mr Geoff Lilliss, said Ampcontrol was in a position to capitalise on the opportunity.

“The acquisition of Primatec enables us to further grow the Ampcontrol business into areas where we are seeing demand. The technology solutions provided by Primatec will be a significant value-add for Ampcontrol customers as they complement our existing products,” he said.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring Primatec into a well-established, market-leading organisation which will benefit both the employees and customers”, Mr Lilliss said.

Ampcontrol has acquired the business and assets of Primatec QDA and the company will operate under the Ampcontrol Group as Ampcontrol Automation. The acquisition is effective immediately, with employees offered ongoing employment with Ampcontrol.

One of the founding Directors of Primatec QDA, Mr Clint Bruin, said: “This is a great outcome for our employees and the business. We are looking forward to being part of the Ampcontrol team and in a position to provide improved services to our customers”, he said.

“We have worked closely with Ampcontrol on a number of large coal mining projects in recent months and we believe our combined expertise will deliver a highly attractive solution for our customers in Australia and overseas”, Mr Bruin said.
