UntitledAFL has announced that the release of its full range of test and inspection equipment in 2018 now includes the FOCIS Duel Fibre Optic Connector Inspection System.

The FOCIS Duel is a self-contained, tether-free, compact, hand-held inspection solution that is an optimal tool for optical network installation, turn-up, troubleshooting and maintenance. It also provides verification that proper connector cleaning practices are being used.

Building on the FOCIS Flex design, the FOCIS Duel contains two ports – a fully-featured one with the same capabilities as the FOCIS Flex and a fast and convenient, female-style adapter for patch-cord viewing. This adapter also has auto-focus and 2X zoom capabilities.

The added capability of the FOCIS Duel allows technicians to inspect connectors on bulkhead adapters (Port one) and patch cords (Port two) without swapping adaptor tips. There are more than three dozen tips available, all supporting the commonly used connector types.

The new Port two adapter tips are available for all common connector types, universal 1.25mm and 2.5mm, SC and LC in both UPC and APC polish types.

The Port one adapter auto-focuses, captures, centres and analyses the end-face image to industry standard IEC 61300-3-35 (2015), IPC, AT&T and user-defined criteria.

The FOCIS Duel can perform cleanliness analysis and store Port one images and reports locally. It also works with the AFL FOCIS app (iOS and Android), providing a comprehensive and user-friendly feature set, as well as connectivity with AFL’s cloud-based aeRos workflow automation platform.
