ABB releases component solutions that improve electromagnetic compatibility
ABB, a manufacturer of power and productivity, has unveiled its latest solutions to improve electromagnetic compatibility.
A topic that is more important than ever before. The amount of electrical and electronic components in the control equipment of machines is continuously increasing while, at the same time, the available space is becoming less and less. As a result, cables that could possibly interfere with one another have to be installed closer and closer together.

“To meet increased performance demands PMA EMVFIX product line has been specifically designed to provide a number of solutions to these challenges as part of a cable protection system,” ABB managing director, PMA business, Volker Mühlstein says.
“At the core being the polyamide corrugated conduits and the corresponding connector fittings that have been used in machine construction applications for several decades.”
High-quality metal braids provide electromagnetic shielding and the structure of the strands is crucial because the system is only protected as well as its weakest part.
Optimal protection is guaranteed by using specially designed fittings that, through a 360° electrical connection for the braiding, ensure that there is a continuous electromagnetic screen. Along with various conduit types and braids developed for the most diverse applications, PMA also offers numerous fittings designed to connect both braid and conduit simultaneously.
In addition to standard fittings, versions with an integrated tension relief function for almost all available nominal sizes are also included in the EMC product range.
The portfolio is rounded off with swivel connection elements and parts used for angle connections. The high-sealing performance PMAFIX Pro product line can also be used with EMC components and offer the highest level of safety for a cable protection system.
Time and money can be saved by using an EMC cable protection system instead of a shielded cable because the installation is easy and more reasonably priced standard cables can be used.
Normally the shielding braid is installed in a corrugated conduit. However, it could be required in certain applications to install the braid around the conduit.
