Public consultation is now open for the NSW utilities and electrotechnology industries with Standards Australia seeking input on two crucial standards that ensure electrical safety.

The consultation will give members of the public a chance to have a say in shaping the future of electrical practices. The standards open for public feedback are AS/NZS60079.19 and AS 2467.

AS/NZS60079.19 Explosive atmospheres, Part 19: Equipment repair, overhaul and reclamation (IEC 60079-19:2019, MOD) addresses the safe repair, overhaul and reclamation of equipment used in explosive atmospheres, such as areas with flammable gas or dust. The second standard, AS 2467 Maintenance of electrical switchgear, outlines the proper maintenance procedures for electrical switchgear, a critical component of safe power distribution.
