NHP announces new range of electrical vehicle chargers
NHP’s new range of Delta electric vehicle chargers comply with the new AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules to ensure maximum safety for all power levels and to suit all electric vehicle charging applications.
The Delta range includes AC chargers at 7kW AC, and DC chargers for faster charging at 25kW, 50kW, 150kW.

When installing an AC electric vehicle charger, NHP recommend the device has its own dedicated circuit and upstream protection to guard against dangerous electrical faults. The minimum requirement specified in AS/NZS 3000:2018 Appendix P for the Residual Current Device (RCD) is a Type A 30mA, provided the charger can ensure disconnection of the supply in the case of a DC fault current above 6mA.
In the event that the electric vehicle charger cannot ensure disconnection in this circumstance, a Type B RCD is specified in AS/NZS 3000:2018 Appendix P.
The AC charger from NHP’s Delta AC Mini Plus includes 6mA DC detection allowing for it to safely operate with a Type A RCD, leaving no need for the higher priced Type B RCD to be installed and ensures users are protected from any potential risks.
NHP considers the AC Mini Plus to be a fixed appliance. This isolation is provided in the upstream protection, however for good practice NHP recommend the use of an isolator near the electric vehicle charger to assist with maintenance.
