Schneider Electric launches Masterpact MTZ air circuit-breaker
Schneider Electric has announced the launch of its third-generation of high power, low voltage air circuit-breakers, Masterpact MTZ.
Featuring embedded class one energy metering, footprint, power connection, thermal rating and tripping performance, Masterpact MTZ provides switchboard builders the convenience of using it on their existing designs.
The Masterpact range includes Masterpact M and NT/NW, which is assembled at Ingleburn in NSW.

“Customers expect power distribution to be safer, more reliable, efficient, sustainable and securely connected than ever before,” says Schneider Electric Australia vice president of partner projects and power solutions Farokh Ghadially.
“Masterpact MTZ’s new connectivity, digital capabilities and ability to be seamlessly integrated into our EcoStruxure architecture will deliver significant benefits for end users, specifiers, switchboard manufacturers and contractors requiring high power breakers as part of low-voltage solutions for industrial sites, critical applications and buildings.”
Masterpact MTZ can withstand vibrations of high level according to IEC 60721 (1g at 2-200Hz) and is immune to twice the level of radiated disturbance as per IEC 61000-4 standard. This is important in the data centre market.
“We are proud that the new Micrologic X trip unit simplifies the configuration of circuit-breakers to only four types, and enhancing convenience is the ability to choose from a list of Digital Module options. The new trip unit is ‘connectivity ready’ and offers NFC and Bluetooth communication for smart phones,” says Farokh.
“Most importantly, our customers can achieve safe, efficient and easy day-to-day facility management via connectivity to smart phones, plus operations and analytic software with embedded Ethernet interface as an option. This is great because it gives people quick view, self-diagnosis of protection setting and modification, energy consumption, power quality, phase balance and health status in real-time on your smart phone. Users can stay connected through the EcoStruxure edge control software, for instant notifications, remote diagnostics and secure maintenance.”
Masterpact MTZ can be customised with digital modules anytime, anywhere, with various function options available for protection, measurement, diagnostics and maintenance. The Masterpact MTZ is scalable at any stage of the life cycle from design and configuration to commissioning and operation upgrades, without power interruption or protection shutdowns.
Masterpact MTZ can also be managed through Schneider Electric’s Field Services organisation, enabling conditions-based maintenance, remote facility management, asset management and improved energy management services. This provides significant cost savings in energy and maintenance, as well as advanced technical support.
