NECA supports Federal Government’s focus on lighting efficiency
NECA has announced its support of the Federal Government’s commitment to focus on lighting as a priority within the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program.
The E3 Program is an Inter-Governmental Agreement through which the Australian government, states and territories and New Zealand collaborate to deliver a single, nationally integrated scheme to enhance energy efficiency standards and labelling for equipment and appliances.

A key objective of the E3 Program is to reduce energy bills for households and businesses by driving improvements to the energy efficiency of new appliances and equipment.
“NECA endorses the Federal Government’s renewed commitment and focus towards energy efficient lighting,” says NECA chief executive Suresh Manickam.
“Greater use of energy efficient lighting such as LEDs has delivered savings for business and the wider community, particularly when replacing outdated products such as halogen or fluorescent lamps.”
“Products such as LEDs deliver long term benefits such as increased usage, enhanced durability and lower maintenance costs. Additionally, as LEDs don’t contain mercury, there’s also a reduction in toxicity within landfill upon their eventual disposal,” Suresh says.
“NECA has long supported the greater use of energy efficient products across the sector and we are encouraged by the Government’s renewed focus on lighting as a way to deliver sustainable benefits for business and the wider community.”
